First meeting of 2018.

by | Mar 14, 2018

What a night! On Febuary 5th, 2018 we both celebrated our 3rd anniversary and kicked off our 4th year in style. It was so great to see so many come out on a cold winter’s evening. In other exciting news, 25 new members joined us at this meeting! Welcome! Thank you to our current members that helped with recruitment.

Thank you as well to all our members that made nominations – we had 12 in the hat! From those, Jean Stinson championed The Red Deer Action Group Society, Leslee Burton, The Access For All Playground Structure and Julie Oliver, Habitat for Humanity. Julie’s pitch for Habitat for Humanity won the night. The timing couldn’t be better as they are starting a new project in southeast Red Deer very soon. The ground-breaking ceremony is February 15.

No party is complete without something sweet. The cupcakes made by a talented member of food services at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club were gorgeous and delicious. Thank you to Janet and Gilbert Marshall of Gilmar Construction for sponsoring the cupcakes and flowers. Chatters donated a lovely gift basket  (worth over $150)  for our Member Appreciation prize. Colleen Thomas was the lucky winner and she graciously donated the prize for the upcoming  Access for All Playground Structure fundraiser. Classy move, Colleen – paying it forward.

It was great to see so many representatives from the 12 charities we donated to in our first 3 years. Kendra and Christy visited from Stettler on a fact-finding mission as they prepare to launch their own 100 Women group. Best wishes to you.

Next meeting is Monday, April 16Start thinking about making a nomination and bringing a friend. We are so close to getting our membership to over 200 again. Doesn’t raising $20,000 sound great?

With gratitude,

Cindy and Susan
