November 15, 2017 was our fourth and final meeting of the year, wrapping up our third year as a group! With 8 nominations “in the hat” and compelling presentations for three charities, the pressure was on. But how can you beat the Red Deer Christmas Bureau at Christmas time?
Thank you to Brooke Einarson-Schaab for her pitch for the Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools and to Brenda Watts for the Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre. Thank you to every one who submitted nominations!
Judy Scott told us all about the important work Family Services is doing for kids and families through their “Taming the Worry Dragons” and “FAST – Families and Schools Together” programs. Even in such a prosperous city as ours, there is so much need. We’re grateful that there are organizations like Family Services stepping up.
This year the 100+ Women Who Care donations have gone to:
The Lending Cupboard $14,450
Central Alberta Brain Injury Society $14,725
Family Services of Central Alberta $13,450
Red Deer Christmas Bureau $8900 and counting!
Please mail or drop off your cheque for the Red Deer Christmas Bureau to4751-56 Street, Red Deer T4N 2K2 by December 1st.
The Christmas Bureau can certainly use the funds! In addition to 1000’s of toys, they provide about 1100 Christmas Dinner food hampers to families in our community. Doesn’t it feel good to know that we’ve helped make the holidays brighter for so many?
Thank you to Red Deer News Now and The Red Deer Advocate for the their stories about The Christmas Bureau and our donations:
We hope that through articles like this, other women may be encouraged to join our group.
It’s not too late to get your cheques in for Family Services of Central Alberta, The Lending Cupboard and Central Alberta Brain Injury Society if you haven’t already done so.
The first meeting of 2018 will be held on Monday, February 5 at 7 p.m. at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Please come and help us celebrate our 3rd anniversary and the start of year 4!
